'Pestalo' by Hannah Waldron

Hannah Waldron's work combines weaving, drawing, sculpture and storytelling to explore textiles and its expanded field. With a playful approach to making, each body of work is an attempt to develop both visual and material language that articulates both internal narratives with broader relational networks.

Pestalo at Newquay Orchard is the first iteration in a developing body of work that takes as its starting point a story about a group of schoolchildren who go on a trains-formative journey into the wilderness, involving both human and non-human encounters that have life and society changing consequences.

For the Orchard, Hannah will lead two weaving workshops (more details coming soon), focussing on tapestry and mark making in weaving using natural fibres and plant dyed yarns. Inspiration will be drawn from around the Orchard site and the resulting artworks will be shown as a collaborative exhibition, alongside a series of Hannah’s latest textile works.
